Dimensional Management Engineer

SUMMARY: The Dimensional Engineer is primarily responsible for developing and managing the scope, timing and cost of metrology systems infrastructure required for current, new and/or mid cycle models. Reports directly to the Director of Engineering.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
- Determine project specifications by studying product design, customer requirements and performance standards
- Manage project schedules while collaborating with other teams on project deliverables.
- Analyze dimensional build objectives and ensure objectives are addressed.
- Participate throughout the part development process to ensure dimensional criteria meet build objectives.
- Creation of GD&T (CAD – NX software).
- Gage build leader – working with Gage source to ensure gage design meets GD&T requirements. Gage review and approval with customer.
- Develop and verify component dimensional tolerances based on previous programs/components.
- Leading of the customer dimensional approvals through product life cycle.
- CMM dimensional analysis and dimensional approvals, Gage R&R.
- Maintain overall schedule by monitoring progress, coordinating activities and resolving problems.
- Documentation creation for customer build events as required.
- Prepare project status reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends.
- Extensively interact with Metrology teams including engineers and metrology operators to provide solutions.
- Engage in continuous improvement opportunities as required.
- Maintain compliance of IATF 16949 / ISO 9001 / ISO 14001.
Follows all safety, housekeeping (5S) and company policies and procedures.
Coordinates and maintains all job responsibilities in a continuous and flexible manner and performs other related duties and job assignments as required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: Knowledge / Experience in Statistics and Root Cause Analysis. Experience in FCA Dimensional tools preferred (eCMM, CMDANA, eTool/CMP). Experience in Dimensional Control Plan processes and reporting. Extensive knowledge of CMM, blue light scanners, laser trackers and or laser radar technology.
