SUMMARY: The Injection Molding Project Engineer will collaborate with team members to develop and improve product designs for molded components. You are responsible for providing technical support and solutions to the manufacturing processes.

 

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES willinclude the following.

  • Work with Tooling engineers and assist in tool designs, such as hot or cold runners, gating, manifold design, tool dimensions, etc.
  • Work with Machine manufacturers to ensure injection molding machines meet the needs for tool designs such as tonnage, shot size, material types and ensure machines have all necessary options that would be required.
  • Work with all ancillary equipment Manufacturers and make sure equipment is specified and meets the required needs for machines and tooling such as Robot Automation, Mag Platens, hot runners, valve gates, temperature control systems, blenders, etc.
  • Assist in the facility to make sure it meets all the requirements for machines such as concrete, cranes, compressed air, and all required ancillary equipment, etc.
  • Engage in continuous improvement opportunities as required.
  • Maintain compliance of IATF 16949 / ISO 9001 / ISO 14001.

Will be required to travel.

Follows all safety, housekeeping (5S) and company policies and procedures.

Coordinates and maintains all job responsibilities in a continuous and flexible manner and performs other related duties and job assignments as required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: This position requires a bachelor's degree in plastics engineering or a minimum of five – ten years' experience working with injection molding equipment for automotive parts at an engineer or project engineer level. Experience in molding design/tooling is an absolute requirement.

Good computer skills in Microsoft Software (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Project, and Outlook e-mail) is a must.
